About the Film

Aging, and all that comes with it, does not equate to a loss of value as a human being. In an age of progressive social movements and a push for change, acceptance, and equality, older members of society are largely overlooked. The people who raised us, fought for us in wars, and paved the way for our success and failures are being shelved and forgotten about.

Resources are simply not being allocated towards improving the quality of life and acceptance of older members of the population. Some are isolated and neglected because of the prevalent ageism that exists in the political, social, and economic institutions that govern us.

Many people fear growing old. Whether it is the dreadful thought of losing memories, independence, loved ones, or physical health and capabilities, it is a natural progression of life that has been made taboo by society. Perhaps one of the scariest things about aging is the isolation and loneliness it can bring. Many people end up in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private home care where they are forgotten by society.

Our goal is to gather stories of people who do not always have the chance to be heard. We want to know what older members of our society care about. We want to show that not all people over the age of 65 are the same.

COMING APRIL 1, 2015.
